Background of the issue:
I am trying to resolve an issue with the custom mobile menu dropdown icon not working on the default language after setting up WPML. I want to reopen a previous case related to this issue.

Symptoms:
The custom mobile menu dropdown icon is not functioning on the default language after WPML setup.

Questions:
How can I reopen the previous case regarding the mobile menu dropdown icon issue?

Hey there,

Thank you for waiting. I've checked your website further, and noticed that with only WPML, WPML String Translation, both WP Fastest Cache plugins and the Avada Plugins, the issue also does not happen.

I've refreshed the cache and waited for more than an hour to test. You can check it here:

It seems to me that this issue comes from a more complex interaction with other plugins. My suggestion here is to try and isolate the issue (check what are the only plugins necessary for it to happen), and check your button implementation. This issue is not fully WPML related. Also try reaching out to Avada's Support, to see if they have any insights on why the trigger is failing.

Hi, thank you for the assists, but I strongly disagree with your investigation. Why are you waiting one hour to check if the site is working? I did not see from the video how you fresh the cache and did not see from your video if the preload finish. Everything what I see from the video is nothing new, the problem is there just you cannot reproduced correctly. The problem is in the WPML! It is not in Avada or the cache plugin. When WPML is off everything is working even with my Moby icon implantation. So please take responsibility and check my case deeply, this what you are showing me is not a real investigation. AM confused after everything what we did yesterday to see such a simple video where nothing is showed to convince me that the problem is not in WPML. Please focus on the preload. The preload is a simple function, which preload all cache of the pages so even the first user coming to the website to have fast experience. Am forcing this preload with a special link which I just refresh till it`s finish the last page. hidden link

Also the cache plugin was stopped from yesterday, because of the issue. AM not sure that during the test you turned on!

Please, do not push me to Avada or fastest cache support till you prove me wrong!

Best regards!

Hello there,

WPML is seemingly involved in the issue, as disabling it stops the issue from happening. What I said, is that there are other variables involved. For example: disabling WP Fastest Cache also prevents the issue from happening. I'm not evading responsibility, I'm just sharing the results from my testing.

I waited for an hour because I was debugging other issues in parallel. When debugging, we try to isolate the issue, that means removing external variables and checking the issue again. That helps us narrow down the causes. Let me share the steps I took to reproduce the issue, when only WPML, WP Fastest Cache and the Avada plugins were active:

1. Left only WPML, WPML String Translation, both WP Fastest Cache plugins, Avada Builder and Avada Core active;
2. Activated the last setting on WP Fastest Cache and saved;
3. Deactivated the last setting on WP Fastest Cache and saved;
4. Emptied all caches;
5. Visited hidden link and waited for the process to complete;
6. Visited the front page and tested;

It's recorded here:
hidden link

That lead me to conclude that the issue is not fully a WPML issue, meaning that it involves other plugins or variables. I recommended you to reach out to Avada, to see if they can have any insights that might be useful to us. I'm just asking for cooperation, not trying to evade responsibility.

Are you willing to reach out to them and gather more information? Can you confirm if the behavior I showed in the video is relevant and the same on your production website? That might speed up the process to find a cause and solution. If you're not, let me know, I'll proceed with the information we have at the moment.

Thank you.

Hi, thanks for your response.

First, the URL above is not the correct one. I have no idea where this “.local” comes from. The correct URL is:
hidden link

I’ve been in contact with the Fastest Cache plugin support team, and we’ve investigated the issue thoroughly, but they also have no idea what’s causing it.

I’ve personally tested two different caching plugins, LiteSpeed Cache and WP Super Cache, and both result in exactly the same issue.

If I reach out to Avada support, they’ll likely dismiss it since the problem occurs with multiple cache plugins. They won’t care whether both are enabled at the same time or not; they’ll just say it’s a conflict between Fastest Cache and WPML.

At this point, I have no idea what else to try or how to solve the issue.

For the record, I’m experiencing the same problem on my second website, which has a similar configuration but different domains.

It might be that the Avada off canvas elements and builder are not properly separated or translated by WPML. I’m not sure. I built my menu using this element because it allows full customization and control.

Hi, I watched your second video more carefully and there is an important step you missed to reproduce the issue correctly.

After you see the results from the preload, you need to hit the browser refresh button to restart the process again. This continues the preload until you see the message saying “Complete.” The site has about 18 pages, but when you ran the preload once it only processed 6/18 of them.

After “Complete.” message, fresh your browser with my website and test again.

I found one more very very important step which prevent the issue to be reproduced.

You test the page till you are logged in WordPress. No, the cache not apply on logged users at all. You need to test on mobile phone or Incognito browser Tab.

So i did all steps you made in the video but correctly, so left only the plugins from avada, wpml and fastest cache, make the steps one by one and still the issue comes again.

Hello there,

"First, the URL above is not the correct one. I have no idea where this “.local” comes from. The correct URL is:

It's not the incorrect URL. I've created a local copy of the website with it, that's why you don't recognize the URL.

Thank you for sharing the additional steps I've missed. I will check again and perhaps get it escalated to our 2nd tier support, to see with they have any important details. I will keep you updated. Thank you for your patience.

Hi, thank you!

I just bring back the standard menu because am running google ads and my website speed performance was terrible without the cache and the users jut jump away. No clue if you can make future tests, now the custom menu is removed. I hope with the local copy you can investigate further. For now I just need to make compromise.

Best

I ran the tests once again, and again I couldn't see any impact on the functioning of the trigger on your website:

hidden link

I thoroughly followed the steps you suggested, a couple of times. WPML has no impact on the trigger. Do you have any evidence to show otherwise? If you do, please share it with me. I have nothing to work on, so far, as I couldn't see myself any impact from WPML on the issue.

It`s not working for you because during the test you are using the window of the browser which is logged in WordPress. I see the WordPress dashboard over my webpage, till you test in mobile version, which is wrong.

You need to use new incognito tab of the browser which is not logged in WordPress, only like that you will see the issue.

The behavior is the same on an incognito tab, after following the same steps as previously. Perhaps the issue is related to your server.

Can you please create a staging version of the website, on the same server? You can keep the same user there. Let's check if the behavior is the same as it is in production, so I have information to check and possibly escalate the issue. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Please explain me, or prove me, how this can be server related issue? How a server will cause and issue which was not exist before installing WPML!? This make no sense at all! Can you just escalate the issue please!?
