I am trying to: activate "A different domain per language" setting

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link, hidden link

I expected to see: Main language is Turkish and co.uk domain should be English but it is not working. I tried to update the wpml plugin but it gives "Plugin not found" error

Instead, I got: Language redirections not working, the plugin can not be updated

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

Do you experience this issue after trying to update ?
If yes, could you please delete the current WPML installation and manually install it again and check the issue?

Let me know how it goes.

Ps:
Deleting WPML Multilingual CMS will not delete your translations.
Translations are saved in database.

Riffaz.

Hi,
I now updated the latest WPML version and reset the language settings to "A different domain per language" setting. It is not working yet.
First of all, default language for cms-wise.com is set to be Turkish.
Secondly, I configged everything according to this link: https://wpml.org/2016/04/use-wpml-different-domains-per-language/
And expect to move to cms-wise.co.uk when I select English as the language.
Please help me as soon as possible.

Hi,

May I ask DNS are set correctly?
Both domains should point to the same WordPress install without redirecting.
Did you do that in cPanel? or name servers?

Hi,
I added in cpanel the A type record as mentioned in the link. Can you give me precise examples for what kind of records i should add and what kind of records i should remove?
Thanks

Hi,

Could you please show the screenshots of both the original domain and the new domain's A records

And, set the new domain as an ALIAS of the original domain

Then wait for propagation, it should take up to 48h o propagate.
Then you can check if when typed the new domain in the browser, it should automatically redirect to the old one

If you are not sure about any of this, you can check with your hosting support.
They can do this without an mistake.

Hi Riffaz,
I've just attached the screenshots of A records of both domains, com and co.uk

I tried to create an ALIAS between these two domains but it rejected because said both domains are in the domain list on our account. Normally there was a redirection on cms-wise.co.uk to cms-wise.com, but now I removed it and there is no redirection. Please see the screenshot of our domains as well. In order to create ALIAS I need to remove co.uk domain from the account, which I don't want to do as there are some gmail configuration in its zone records etc.

If you need anything else please let me know.
Thank you

Hi,

Your siteurl and homeurl are not same.
Please change them both same.
You have to use .com domain there.

You can change them in Settings > General > WordPress Address (URL), Site Address (URL) : hidden link

After changing this, check how it works.
Then let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Riffaz.

Hi,
I just checked and both were the same, both were .com domain. Then I went to WPML Language settings and changed the configuration to different domains for different languages. As attached screenshot.

Then I tested the website, it was not working. When I went back to WP admin, I see site url is different than WP admin url. It changed itself and I can not change it back, it rejects.

I don't know what is going on.
