I'm under the impression that there are two types of translation manual vs automatic.

Manual : To me manual would mean that I select any type of content and then it gets translated on the fly like it would with google translate. I then approve, modify or deleted the translated content.

Automatic : to me this means I select the content and send it for translation , I start using my free 2000 words, and it comes back translated for me. I then approve or reject it.

I see automatic works fine, however when I select manual it just copies the code in the original language ( english) and never translates it to the new language, in my case Spanish. ( see attached )

I'm hoping that i'm just missing something or this product is not for me...

Thanks for your help..

Frank

Hello,

If I understand correctly I would recommend option #2 if you are looking to use machine translation to translate your site's content.

With WPML you have the following options on how to translate:

1. Manual Translation

This allows for manual translation, which essentially means that you are doing the translation yourself, assigning the translation to one of your local translators or even sending it to one of the translation services(i will explain this into more detail below).

With manual translation, you are manually performing the translations and it is not automatic compared to Google as you mentioned above, this allows for more control over the translation.

for more information please review the following documentation:

=> https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/

2. Automatic Translation

This allows you to utilize machine translation (a lot like Google for example), for which you have a starting quota of 2000 words and it will automatically translate the content for you then you can review it and make a change if needed or approve it and save the translation.

To use the Automatic Translation you have to go to WPML->Settings-> Use WPML's Advanced Translation Editor.

For more information please review the following documentation:

=> https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/how-automatic-translation-works/

To use the Automatic Translation please go to WPML->Settings-> Use WPML's Advanced Translation Editor.

Additional recommended documentation to review :

=> https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

3. Using translation services.

WPML allows you to also send your content to Translation Services for translation, for more information on this I recommend reviewing the following documentation:
