Tell us what you are trying to do? In WPML string translation, I have normally the original language flag, in my case for english. It takes now the file I used as customized flag defined

Is there any documentation that you are following?

Is there a similar example that we can see?

What is the link to your site? It is in the backend, wpml string translation. I am sure I could use or do it somehow with a css part, such as

.icl-st-original img {width: 30px!important; height: 30px!important;}

But this not working...

The flag should not be changed in the String Translation section. To change the flags that appear next to languages, go to the section “Site Languages”, then click on the link “Edit Languages”. You can choose a different flag from WPML’s install directory or upload your own.

Please see the attached screenshot.

Please see it in our documentation here.

Please let me know if this information is helpful to you.
