Ok, here is the deal, before I am using WPML on one of my multisites, I would like to just verify something:

I am using a WordPress multisite environment with 3 sites.
1 is just a split screen where people can choose which categorie they would like to go to: hidden link which will lead them to the other sites (bridal and/or casual), which are both the other multisite sites: hidden link and hidden link.

I will of course translate all 3...

Now here is my question; when I translated this first one-pager, will WPML automatically adjust the link to the 2 sites according to the language on that page? So if I show the one-pager in French, will the bridal button put me through to the French translation of the 2nd (multi)site?

It might be an obvious answer, but as I am a rookie on WPML, I would like to make sure before I just go and translate it and find out it's not working 🙂 .

Thanks in advance for your answer!

Thank you for contacting WPML support. I'll be happy to help you with this. Can you tell me how you are creating the content on this site: hidden link

Most likely, once you translate this site, you will need to translate the links for the URLs to link to as well. If you are using a page builder, you can translate the links via the WPML Translation Editor. If you are hardcoding the links in the template, then you can most likely use string translation. Once I have the information of how it is created, I will be able to better assist you.

Ok, so I started with the multisite, it does work till now, but I have a problem now with another site I am translating: hidden link

In the footer you will find a widget with links, kind of a sitemap. The first one that I translated via Stringtranslation worked perfect (this was about a week ago). So this morning there was an update of WPML, which I installed and wanted to translate the other items of the sitemap as well. So I found the strings, translated them, but: not showing on my site! So I tried to adjust the one that I already managed to translate and that still works fine, I can change it and I will see the adjustment right away. Still the new ones I want to translate are not changing... What goes wrong here?

A little update: I notice that I can ONLY translate the 2nd item of both sitemaps... --> in this case "graafmachines" and "brochures".

How are you adding these sitemaps? Are these menus that you created at Appearance -> Menus? When you added the widget, did you set the widget to All Languages, or did you create separate widgets per language?

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.

- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link
