Background of the issue:
I'm trying to translate the footer template part to have a different layout in the secondary language. I have used the translate management section for translation, but I need different layouts between the primary and secondary languages. The issue can be seen at hidden link.

Symptoms:
I received the error 'Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.' when trying to edit the footer template part in the secondary language. The changes are not saved, and I can only edit the template part in the primary language.

Questions:
How can I have different footer layouts for different languages?
Why am I getting a 'Updating failed. The response is not a valid JSON response.' error when editing the secondary language?

Hello,

At the moment it is not possible to translate Block Theme Templates, Template Parts, or Patterns using the Site Editor.

These post types currently only can be translated using the WPML Translation Editor while using the same layout and design across different languages.

In case you already tried to translate those post types manually using the Site Editor, take note that this can lead to unexpected issues.

Please read this errata:
https://wpml.org/errata/template-is-not-applied-to-translated-page/

Best regards
Andreas
