Hi,

We had translation work done by iCanLocalize several months ago on a development site.

Their work included added to WPML.

How do we get that work from development to production now that production is several months ahead of development so we can just overwrite the production database?

What is the best practice here? Would you have recommended a content freeze on production? The translation work takes several weeks, so that doesn't seem correct. What is the common/best practice for safely, selectively syncing translation work across different environments with different histories? Do you have documentation or advice for this issue?

Thanks,

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

When you mention this:

selectively syncing translation work across different environments with different histories?

Does it mean that you updated translations for some pages only? In that case, removing existing translations and importing these anew would be a path to go in my view.

As for best practices, can you check this thread - there is one answer on that one where WPML supporter Shane described possibly how to hand pick translations and import them:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/move-translation-to-live-server/

There would be no automated way for this I'm afraid (as it would be like moving any other content type actually like new products or pages, not just translations).
