We're trying to import taxonomy terms in English and French

When we import, the two terms are not connected.
We used "Automatic Record Matching to Translate" which works for POSTS, but not with taxonomy terms.

Please advise

Hi,

Thank you for contacting support forum.

I am sorry to say but this limitation of WP All Import and WPML All Import. Please check the documentation here https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/

Before we proceed to a description of how to import posts, let us stop for a moment to consider the case when you are importing posts with taxonomies (categories, tags, or custom taxonomies). In this case, you must create the exact same taxonomies before the import.

If after the initial import, you do another import that includes some new terms, they will not be linked to the translated terms.

You need to create and connect the terms before the import!

But we are working with WP All import author and hopefully, in future, we will add this feature!

Thanks

Hi,
We're NOT talking about posts... please see our original question:

We're trying to import TAXONOMY TERMS in English and French
When we import the TAXONOMY TERMS, the FR term and the EN term are not connected.

Thanks

Hi,

I am sorry but I responded about importing terms itself.
New terms can be imported but cannot be connected as the unique key you have defined is only for posts.
WP All import does not have any hook/action where WPML All import can save language information of terms and connect the terms.

So as the documentation says

If after the initial import, you do another import that includes some new terms, they will not be linked to the translated terms.

Which means terms should be connected manually before importing posts.
And if you are just importing terms not posts with terms then those can be imported but cannot be linked.

Thanks
