Hi, i was sent away recently with the message that my images in translated posts didn't show because there was a certificate issue. This was partially right but showed how little effort was made to disover the real issue. My images should not have existed because the main issue i discovered is the postst that were placed on develepment in the translated sections (english and german) don't get overwritten when i edit the original in WPML. So whatever i do, the translated posts remain the same until i edit them as if they were the original. How do i solve this? |

Hello, Thank you for reaching out! Are you translating the posts using the WPML Translation Editor or are you using the WordPress Editor? Note that if the original post has changed, it will always be required to update the translation, unless your post translation is a duplicate. Duplicates display the original content in all languages. Best regards |

Hello, If you edit the original content inside the WordPress Editor, you will set the translation method inside the right sidebar. Check for the section "Language" and review the translation method icons: - WPML Translation Dashboard Which method are you using for the content? Note that you can not use the WPML Translation Editor and the WordPress Editor at the same time. Translation created with the WPML Translation Editor will overwrite manual edits that are made on the translation using the WordPress Editor. Further, if you translate the content with the WPML Translation Editor, do you see all the strings of the content inside the UI? Did you complete the translation to 100%? Best regards |

Hi Andreas, Again i will need to say : your question is already answered in my previous post. I hope you are not doing it on purpose but i do feel you are testing the limits of patience by ignoring what i write and asking it again.... twice. About translating in the editor itself : i do see all strings and the editor annoyingly won't let you leave until it's 100% done - and it's annoying because it's also still very faulty in handling the strings, so yes : the translations are done 100%. |

My apologies, but the comments did not answer my questions. Your screenshot only shows the sidebar of a translated post. The translation method is only defined on the original content. Also, it could be that the translation is marked as a "Duplicate", which is something that I could only be able to see on the WordPress editor's sidebar of the original content. If I were not proactive on this matter, I thank you for your patience. It is simply that my current workload requires me to first filter out which issues indeed need my proactive cooperation and which may not. I'd like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the website to investigate the issue further. You'll find the necessary fields below the comment section if you log in to leave the next reply. The information you provide will be private, meaning only you and I will be able to see and access it. IMPORTANT If you don't see the "wp-admin / FTP" fields, your login credentials for the post and website will be set to "PUBLIC." Do NOT publish the information unless you see the required wp-admin / FTP fields. The private reply form looks like this: When replying again, click "I still need assistance". Video: Please note that we are required to request this information individually on each ticket. We are not permitted to access any login information that was not specifically provided in the private reply form for this ticket. |

Example: The translation method for this product is set to "WordPress Editor". See screenshot. Current translation status is "Update needed". I updated the translations inside the WordPress Editor, and the status changed as expected to "Completed". Dutch original: English translation: German translation: All products are appearing translated and display currenlty eight images. Could you please clarify with an exact example, how I can see the issue? |

Thank you! Also, this post is using the WordPress Editor as a translation method. The German translation is waiting for an update. The image that is not showing up this German version is coming from: The error net::ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID appears, as this domain does not seem to have a valid SSL certificate. I would further suggest linking the image from hidden link and not from hidden link. This might have occurred after you migrated the site, and you will still need to update the translations. |

The reply you show me now is the exact issue i started out with. So you copied my question how to solve this as a comclusion of the issue and tell me it's best to solve this. I still believe your approach is a bit strange. Please just explain to me how i set wordpress up so it uses the wpml translations (which are all already done for all posts) so the current tranlated posts are gone. |

It looks like you migrated the site from: The image on the translation is still linking to the old domain: hidden link As this domain does not have a valid SSL certificate, you get an error. I would suggest updating the translation and serving the media from your media library at hidden link. As you handle the translations manually using the WordPress Editor, you will need to manually adjust the media on the translated post. |

I'm not sure why the message doesn't drop. The articles with issues are translations from the original Dutch. Maybe otherwise ignore all my explainations as AI understood them much better but could not provide a solution and just tell me the answer to this question: How do i set up WPML so that it overwrites articles when i use wpml to translate? |

You use the WordPress Editor as a translation method, which means that you update the translations using the WordPress Editor in every second language. I just edited an English post successfully. See screenshot. (I reverted those changes after that) I am sorry, but I do not see any issue with updating translations. If you get different results, please name an exact example. |

You are so kind in the way you insult my intellect. As you detected in the German version where i did not go into the wordpress editor afterwards to make manual updates because WMPL doesn't update the posts, they had images with incorrect links. the reason why the English didn't is because i manually edited them because, for the endless'd time : wpml doesn't. If you did anything to the setting that it now will, as asked twice before : please tell me how so i know for the future. If all of this is too hard, i will need to find another app and find several ways to let internet know my experience so far. My biggest wish of 2025/2026 is that i remained in Joomla where this nonsense doesn't exist. |
