Well,
I was able to install WPML it works at the sub pages I have the language switcher on the home page, but on the landingpage it does not work. It should redirect to hde-ft.nl/en (for english) but it doesn't have the page. Although we translated the landing page and made it available.

First of all, thank you very much for your patience and sorry to have you waiting - there is a very full ticket queue at the moment and it takes us a bit more than usual to answer tickets.

Now, regarding your request:

This is pretty weird.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Yes, it is safe to edit the credentials in the field where you added them initially.

I've copy-pasted what you sent and it did not work, that's why I wrote to you about this.

Hi and thank you for your patience.

From what I can see, there is no existing translation for the homepage.

I will attach 2 screenshots where you can see that.

That is the reason why there is no English flag on the homepage. The page needs to be translated by clicking the + icon.

I still see a + sign instead of a pencil-edit icon like in the Contact page below.

Are you currently working on it still? Did you save the translation?

My colleague Mihai is sadly not available today but I am glad to assist you.

I can see that the translation is completed on the WPML Translation Editor but it is not showing up yet.

Also, I can see that these pages is using an Elementor Template. Could you please translate these templates, then apply the translation for the Landing page again and let me know if the issue persists?

Hello Andreas,
I did and it drives me crazy. The problem is we are not having any progress. Our company has been nominated for a prize in the Financial Industry, due to be presented in a gala event in London and we are not even able to have an English landing page.
Time is getting thight.
