This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: The user would like to always redirect users based on their browser language

Solution: This is not possible. WPML only redirects the first visit within a configurable timeframe. This way WPML can allow visitors to visit other languages if needed.

My browser language is German. I am trying to open the main url of my website without language parameter in the URL. The first time I am redirected to GER website (which is correct), but I open new tab in my browser and open the same link I am redirected to English website (which is not good). First time works well then no.

Active: Browser language redirect - Always redirect visitors based on browser language (redirect to home page if translations are missing).

Why does this happen? What should I do that I always get German redirection in case of German browser?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support. I will be glad to help with this.

WPML will do this language redirect only once and then not redirect anymore. We do this to allow visitors to still switch languages. If we always push back to the browser’s language, visitors will not be able to manually switch languages after WPML redirects them to the language set by their browser.

This single-time redirect operation resets every 24 hours (which you can change too). See this image https://wpml.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/browser-language-redirect1.png

Read more about it on this article https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/

I hope this helps. Let me know if you still need anything.

Best regards,
Jamal
