I am trying to:
Q 1. Change the language switcher to horizontal single language.
Q 2. On the front end switch from the translated language to the primary language

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:
hidden link

I expected to see:
Q 1. Horizontal single language switcher inline with the menu
Q 2. When in Chinese translation I expect to see the page switch to English when I click English.

Instead, I got:
Q 1. The switcher looks like how I want but the position is wrong, its out of line from the menu
Q 2. The page just reloads and wont change from Chinese to English

The styling in the front end at most times is controlled by your theme's CSS and margins rather than WPML.

We currently cannot provide custom work but i have went ahead and tweaked with the already existent CSS from your theme and added it within WPML->Languages->Additional CSS box for you already.

.wpml-ls-legacy-list-horizontal {
    border: none;
    padding: 0px;
    clear: both;
.wpml-ls-legacy-list-horizontal .wpml-ls-item {
    padding: 0;
    margin: 0;
    list-style-type: none;
    display: inline-flex;
    /* margin-bottom: 0px; */
    margin-top: -40px;

Regarding the linking issue of the switcher please try the following

please test this:
-Back up your site first
-Deactivate all non WPML related plugins
-Switch for a moment to a WordPress default theme like Twenty Fourteen.
-If the issue is gone, activate one by one to see with wich one there is an interaction issue
