Background of the issue:
I am trying to link two existing pages, one in French and one in English, on a site under development. The French page is a translation of the English page. All my pages, products, and posts are already translated, and I want to link them without using additional translation credits.
Symptoms:
I can't find a way to link or attach the translated pages. The process seems complicated, and existing instructions, including those from ChatGPT and WPML's support page, have not provided a solution.
Questions:
How can I link existing translated pages in WPML without using translation credits?
Thank you for contacting WPML Support. You can link existing French post/product/page with English post only if they are not linked to any other post by following below steps:
1. Open the French language post in edit mode.
2. Disable the WPML Translation Editor and enable the WordPress Editor.
3. Click on the “Connect with translations” link in the Languages meta box.
4. Search for the English page that you want to link and press the OK button.
5. Another dialogue will appear if you want to change the default language of the post, you may uncheck the checkbox and press the Assign button as you can see in the attached screenshots.
