I am trying to migrate an online store from qTranslate to WPML. I tried using the qTranslate X Importer following the instructions but it never completed the process in both languages. I then tried keeping one language, which completed successfully but erased all product titles and descriptions (keeping just the short description).

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve these issues.

Hope you have followed the steps described in this tutorial - https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/qtranslate-importer/#with-wpml

Please share with me the WordPress debug.log (not WPML debug information) for tracking the issue.

Please check this page for instructions https://wpml.org/documentation/support/debugging-wpml/

To enable it, open your wp-config.php file and look for define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false);. Change it to:

// Enable WP_DEBUG mode
define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );

// Enable Debug logging to the /wp-content/debug.log file
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );

// Disable display of errors and warnings
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );
@ini_set( 'display_errors', 0 );

// Use dev versions of core JS and CSS files (only needed if you are modifying these core files)
define( 'SCRIPT_DEBUG', true );

In this case, the errors will be saved to a debug.log log file inside the */wp-content/* directory. Please do the steps to reproduce the bug and check you are getting any errors or warning related to WPML in the log file.

If you can paste your debug.log to http://pastebin.com/index.php and provide me that link it would be great! (This is the cleanest way because sometimes the logs are long and create a complete mess of discussion).

Thank you Bigul, yes these are the exact insructions I followed.
After restoring the DB to before running the import I run the script again. Please find here the log you requested: https://pastebin.com/JQQF3Gph

I have also pasted the log created in the logs folder where I noticed some relevant mentions of qtimport
https://pastebin.com/e3qNzvKn

Let me know if I should restore the DB again to the previous state and if you need any kind of access to the server.

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. The Debug log is showing few warnings related to WPML. So I would like to access the admin area of your site for further checking. Please fill the private details fields after a full site backup.

Please check the following links for more details about our private information sharing policies.

Hello,

Thank you for the login information. It requires further debugging and has a request. Please restore the backup before importing to WPML.

Hello,

Thank you for the updates. But I am not able to login to the site because of the wrong user name or password error. Please check.

Just to make sure, can I run the Import process on your site after making a Duplicator copy of your site using the Duplicator plugin(https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/). Duplicator is an easy way to migrate and backup websites.

The database restore removed your user. 🙂 It was now created again with the same login details.

Is Duplicator heavy on the server resources? The live site is hosted on the same server, so if it only has to do with restoring a previous DB version I would prefer doing it server side.

Hello,

Thank you for the update. I can log in to the site now. But in the dev site, it looks like WPML import is already over. There also conflict in settings. In qTranslate Greek language was using the language code as *GR*. But in WPML it is *el*. So do you have a backup before activating and configuring WPML?

Please check the attached images for more details and let me know your feedback.

Duplicator normally will not add load to the site. We deactivate Duplicator just after creating the backup package.
