Hello, we are managing an existing WooCommerce E-Commerce website that has been fully translated using WPML Classic Translation Editor. The site includes products (both simple and variable), global attributes, static pages, blog posts, custom HTML blocks inside content, and SEO fields via Yoast.
We are now considering switching to the Advanced Translation Editor. Since this is a live production E-Commerce website, we would like to understand the safest and officially recommended workflow before making any changes.
This is a request for guidance, as we would like to take advantage of the useful features offered by the Advanced Translation Editor, but at the same time we want to ensure that the transition is handled in the most correct and efficient way possible. Our goal is to avoid unnecessary rework, save time, and achieve the best possible result without compromising existing translations.
In particular, we would like clarification on what happens to content already translated with the Classic Editor once ATE is activated. Will existing translations be automatically migrated to the Advanced Editor format, or will they remain linked to the Classic Editor until manually reopened and saved?
We will first perform the procedure on a staging copy, but we want to follow best practices from the start to prevent unintended issues.
