This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing issues where translations revert to English when clicking the home link in Dutch, and translations appear in a confusing, linear format under each other.
Solution:
This issue occurs because the home link was added as a custom link in the Appearance -> Menu. WPML cannot automatically detect the translation for custom links. To resolve this, translate the menu in Dutch and update the custom link to point to the Dutch homepage. We have already made this adjustment for your site, and it should now work as expected.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we recommend checking the related known issues and verifying that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If issues persist, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to maintain translations on my website, hidden link, using WPML. Initially, translations reverted to English when navigating to the home page in Dutch. I am also attempting to translate a blog post.

Symptoms:
Translations revert to English when clicking home in Dutch. Translations appear in a confusing, linear format under each other, mixing up the content.

Questions:
Why do my translations revert to English when I click home in Dutch?
Why are my translations appearing in a confusing format under each other? (see attachment)

How did you create the content on this page? Did you copy and paste it from somewhere? I"m asking because when I inspect the page code, I can see each word wrapped in a <span id=""></span> tag. I believe this is why the words are all on separate lines. Please see attached screenshot for an example of what i am talking about.

Hi Lauren I think the issues with the blog is solved. I changed the format and now it works. The problem with the translation going back in not solved. This is what happens. When You change to Dutch and you choose for example blog it will be Dutch and also other buttons will be Dutch, but as soon as you choose home the whole website goes back to the English version. Can you please change this for me so you stay in the Dutch website? Thank you so much.
Kind regards,
Fleur

This was happening because the Home link was added as a custom link in the Appearance -> Menu. WPML cannot automatically detect the translation for custom links. So, if you translate the menu in Dutch and update the custom link to point to the Dutch homepage, it resolves the issue. I have done this for you and it appears to be working as expected.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance and I will be happy to help.
