We have purchased the full licence version of the WPML plugin. We will be using it to create content for 32 countries and, for the most part, will create translated content that will be independent of each other. However, on occasion we want to only update one field so that it propagates across the other 31 translations rather that editing all 32 which will be very time consuming.

We are using WPML along with ACF Pro so we would like this functionality to be compatible with that.

Is this possible out of the box?

Hello

1. Field syncronization
You wrote: "...we want to only update one field so that it propagates across the other 31 translations rather that editing all 32.."

I am assuming you are meaning a custom field?

Custom field syncrhonisation is controlled via the translation option settings for each field which can be "copy", "translate", "do not translate", "copy once".

Each of these options are explained in this documentation:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/ (see section Translating Custom Fields)

Suffice to say that if the field is set to "copy", then the value will be copied to the post-meta entries of the translated custom fields on update.

2. ACF
We are compatible with ACF and there are certain translation options you need to set for the field group as well as the "hidden" system fields.

This is explained in these tutorials:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/

I hope this information answers your questions.

Thanks for the reply. That seems to do the trick! that covers custom fields but what about the default fields, eg post_title and post_content

If you mark the post as "duplicate" as opposed to "translated", then the post_content and post_title --AND-- all post-meta information will be synched to the original language post.

You can also mark the posts as "appear as transalted" so that this step would not be required .

Please read this documentation carefully:
