This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem: Subcategories for products are appearing in the backend but not on the front end of the site.

Solution: adding a "test" product + a new test subcategory made all the others reappear.

I am trying to:Fix woocommerce product sub-categories

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link (this page and all other main categories should have about 10 sub-categories)

Subcategories visible on Woocommerce multilingual backend page, but not on Woocommerce category page (backend).

I don't know exactly why, but adding a "test" product + a new test subcategory made all the others reappear in my copy of the site. You can see it here: hidden link
