Hi,
I'm using the plugin WP Show Post to display list of posts.
The plugin is using shortcodes to display the list of posts.
As soon as posts are translated there is no much to do as same shortcode is used to display list of posts in different languages so it's perfect.
Except for "read more" button.
Read more button is customisable to be able to choose what we want to write into the button.
As there is no need to translate and create new langage for each list created I can't figure out how to translate this specific button part.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

This really depends on how do you add the button text.
Where do you add the the "Read more" button text?
Does it in widget? or in builder? or in anywhere in the theme option?
Could you please show a screenshot?

Regards,
Riffaz.

Hi,

As I said already, it's added within the plugin "WP Show Post", see attachement.

I published a temporary test page where I put a shortcode with one example : hidden link

Hi,

Thank you.
So it comes from a plugin option.
Please go to WPML > Strings Translations
Scroll down to the very bottom
click on admin text
search for the string
add it to the string translation
now go back to WPML > String translation
you should be able to find it there
translate it as you want

let me know the results after checking this please.

Hi,

In Strings Translation there is a translation available for the plugin "read more" text but it's translating the admin message only, and not what is displaying in the button front end.

You can see it here : hidden link

Admin text is translated, but obviously text on the frontend button is not translated.

Do you understand that it's not a backend admin text to translate ? As I said, the plugin offers the possibility to choose what text can be displayed on the button. Here for example, I'm using "Voir les tarifs" to display as a text button for specific post list. And I need this button to display as "Ver los precious" on my translated spanish posts. But I could use "Lire plus" as a text button for another specific post list.

Hi,

I'm sorry but you have access to my admin, so you can see by yourself that in WPML administration page my configuration is set to "two different domains" one for FR en one for ES. So yeah, my main domain si monvoyageencolombie.com and this is how you login, and miviajeporcolombia.com is my ES domain where all translated posts are redirected by your plugin. Then you ask "which site I have to test and where", well I gave you the link to do so, here it is again : hidden link
I mean, it's insane how much time we are loosing here, it's been 3 days now...

Hi,

Sorry for the delay here but this is not entirely related to WPML. You can understand that from your chat ticket and from the "WP Show Post" plugin support ticket.
It should be an incompatibility issue.
So we need to check this in a bug free, fresh installation.
So our our developers will check this in code level then create a work around.
I created a test site for this.

1. please go to hidden link
- I set up the WordPress and all WPML plugins there
2. just install the plugin "WP Show Post"
3. create only one post
4. translate
you should see the same issue.
Let us know how to check this step by step. our developers will create a workaround for this.

Hi,

Thank you for the set up. from the clean set up, I can confirm that this is an incompatibility issue. WPML + the plugin author should work on this together. we will contact him via hidden link

plugins and themes author normally contact us via https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/

One thing more to our developers to check this directly.
this page hidden link goes to 404. could you please give us the screencast again?

Hi,

Thank you for all the details.
I was able to check everything and confirm that this string is generated very differently in the plugin. Only a very few WPML users are using this plugin.

Anyhow, our compatible team is checking this now. I will update to you once we find the solution for this.
I also let the team knows to contact the plugin author.

Hi,

The original WP Show List and the translated one use different shortcodes.
So, in the translated post (the one that fetches the list) you should use the translated list ID.
Locally, we edited the translated version of "Post displaying WPSP list" changing the shortcode from 40 to 47:

[wp_show_posts id="47"]

and it works now: hidden link

Please try the same in your site and let me know the results.
