I am trying to create a redirect from a translation's old URL to its new URL using Yoast redirects. I expected the redirect to point to the translation, but instead the translation's old URL gets redirected to an English version of the page.

For example:

hidden link

is supposed to go to

hidden link

but instead, it's going to hidden link, which is the English version of the German page I'm trying to redirect the URL to.

I suspect there's some WPML setting that is interfering with the Yoast redirects (e.g., the setting that redirects to the default language if a translation doesn't exist), however I don't know where to find or change such a setting.

I will be happy to help you with this.

You might be right and some settings might interfere with the link redirects you have set.

The option you are talking about (redirect to the default language if a translation doesn't exist) can be found by going to WPML > Settings > Post Types Translation and here you can look at "Pages" or "Posts".

If you still can't figure it out, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.
