We've encountered a challenge with our website's URL structure, which seems to be affected by the WPML plugin settings. Currently, our page URLs are displaying language extensions, as shown in Google Analytics. For instance, we're seeing URLs formatted like this:

hidden link

However, our intention is to have clean URLs without any language extensions, such as:

hidden link

We would greatly appreciate your prompt support to resolve this issue.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hi,
Thanks for contacting WPML support.

WPML provides 3 options for URL formatting, so you can switch to the "Different languages in directories" option to have the URL like this:

- example.com/nl/blog/what-is-rad/

You can also have different domains/sub-domains for each language to have the URL without any language parameters or directories. Please check this guide for more details about the available URL formats: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/

Let me know please if that helps.

Kind regards,
Mohamed

Hello M Sayyed,

I am aware of our current URL structure and have noted that it correctly segregates content by language:

English: hidden link
Dutch: hidden link
French: hidden link

These formats are exactly what we intend to use. However, we've identified an issue where URLs containing the language parameter "?lang=nl" are appearing in our Google Analytics reports, such as:

hidden link

We would like to remove this parameter to maintain a consistent URL structure as shown above. Could you please ensure that the URLs do not include the "?lang=nl" parameter and remain as structured for each respective language?

Hi,

I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin) to investigate the issue further.
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

Hi,

I checked the pages and the sitemap, and both show the correct URL format. Please try the following steps:

- Clear all sorts of cache including NitroPack and WP Engine
- Resubmit the sitemap in your Google account
- Ask Google for a new recrawling

Then wait a couple of days since the Google recrawling/reindex might delay a bit.

Kindly check the following links for more info:

Let us know please if that helps.
