Is it possible to remove WPML meta tag that contains version number? (<meta name="generator" content="WPML ver:2.4.3 stt:22,1;0" />)

You can remove it by adding this to your theme's functions.php:
remove_action('wp_head', 'meta_generator_tag');

Unfortunately that didn't help. With remove_action('wp_head', 'wp_generator'); I removed WP meta version, but still have WPML in there after adding remove_action('wp_head', 'meta_generator_tag');

Try this:

Add this to your theme's functions.php file
remove_action('wp_head', 'meta_generator_tag');

Then de-activate and activate the WPML plugin.
