Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a product on my site hidden link using WPML. When I click on the translation gear icon, I encounter an error. Upon checking the server logs, I found PHP Fatal errors related to maximum execution time being exceeded.
Symptoms:
There has been a critical error on this website. PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 600 seconds exceeded in /var/www/eroticsexsho_usr/data/www/eroticsexshop.cy/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/classes/utilities/class-debug-backtrace.php on line 68.
Questions:
How can I resolve the critical error when translating a product?
What steps should I take to address the maximum execution time exceeded error?
Yes it happens with multiple products.
What does it have to so with hosting ? Anyway We are using our own custom server bought from Hetzner.
Yes all our plugins are themes are updated.
Thank you for the updates. We hope you are using WPML Advanced Translation Editor to translate the posts, including Products.
Please try the following troubleshooting steps after a full site backup{mandatory} and make sure the issue exists or not.
1) Go to WPML>>Support page, click on the Troubleshooting link (blue link in the middle of the page)
2) On the Troubleshooting page, please click on the following options in the *Clean up* section. Wait for confirmation of processing after each one.
- Clear the cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fix element_type collation
- Set language information
- Fix WPML tables collation
- Assign translation status to duplicated content
- Fix terms count

- Synchronize local job IDs with ATE jobs
- Synchronize translators and translation managers with ATE
We are using the classic editor because client prefers the classic editors so will it work. And do we really have to do a backup before making these changes ? Because it is a very big website with 8k+ products.
Thank you for the updates. It is better to keep a backup always, especially before the major changes.
Please try the following steps and check if is there any difference in the results. It will help to refresh the translation settings and job of the Product post having the issue.
1) Open the post for editing in the default language - hidden link
2) Make a minor change and update the post to refresh the translation settings.
3) Go to WPML>>Translation Management Dashboard.
4) Select the post you want to translate or update the existing translations.
5) Send the post to the Translation Basket.
6) Navigate to WPML>>Translation Management>>Translation Basket.
7) Assign the translation to yourself and send it for translation.
8) Go to WPML>>Translations queue and translate the post by clicking the *Translate* button.
