Hintergrund des Themas:
I am trying to use a country filter dropdown for partners in both English (EN) and German (DE) on my website. The filters are located at hidden link for German and hidden link for English. I have checked all WPML settings, and the custom post type (CPT) 'Partner' and the taxonomy 'country' are translated properly.

Die Symptome:
When I save the filter settings in the backend, the filter stops working for one of the languages. I expect to get the same results on both filters in both languages, but one of the two filters doesn't give me a result.

Fragen:
Why does the filter stop working for one language when I save the settings?
How can I ensure that both filters provide the same results in both languages?

Hello,

I apologize for the delay in responding. I will handle this ticket; the reply time will be shorter now.

It looks like you are using Search & Filter Pro, which is fully compatible with WPML:
https://wpml.org/plugin/search-filter-pro/

Please, make sure you are following this documentation:

The Documentation didn't really help me. We've translated the Filter with WPML.
We also have multiple other filters that work properly with WPML only this one isn't working properly.

I can give you temporary backend access if needed so you can check for yourself

Hello,

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue.
It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.

The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I'll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site.
This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content.
Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site.

**IMPORTANT**
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields.

Best Regards,
Otto

Oh sorry thats my fault.
The staging is actually behind a IP Whitelist.
I need to check if we can enter your IP.
What IP could we enter for you to gain access to the site.

Best Regards,
Gerry

Hello,

My IP is dynamic, and another supporter may need to take over.

To be able to investigate the problem, I created a clean installation of WordPress, ACF, WPML, and all necessary WPML add-ons.

You can access the WordPress dashboard using the link below:
hidden link

Kindly follow the steps below:

- Don't restore your site there.
- Install Search Filter Pro, and if you need another plugin or theme for the CPT's
- Try to replicate the issue with minimal steps.
- Then let me know the steps to see the problem and reproduce it.

Will this work for you?

Best Regards,
Otto

Hi Otto,
I wasn't able to reproduce the error on the clean installation.
Is there something else we can try?

Hello,

By "I wasn't able to reproduce the error on the clean installation." you mean that it works as expected or that you weren't able to recreate the setup?

I managed to get a fixed IP. Can you please give me access to your site so I can take a look?

Hello,

Thanks.

I made a copy of your site and deployed it locally for further testing.

I noted that all the search and filter functionality is included in your child theme. Please note that we currently are not able to provide support for custom work within this forum.

Taking into account that the issue is not reproducible in a fresh install, it seems custom programming work is needed, which is beyond the scope of our support.
At this point, I would suggest you consider contacting one of our certified partners from this link: http://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-contractors/
You will get the custom assistance you need to get on with your project.
Before doing so, please have a look also here:

Hi Otto,

I understand but I already tried switiching to the parent theme.
With the parent theme active no custom Code from the functions.php or other files in the child theme are loaded in. Furthermore the custom S&F code in the child is also not loaded in and the same exact same error still happens.
So I don't think custom code is responsible for it.

Our custom Code also only modified the output of the filter and not the filter itself.

After some searching I found that online:
The behavior you describe strongly suggests that WPML and Search & Filter Pro (S&F) are not correctly synchronizing taxonomy relationships in both languages—especially for the country taxonomy, which serves as the filter source.
Maybe this can help you?

Hello,

Thanks.

In my local copy of your site, when I switch to the parent theme, the filters don't even show. It may be related to the cloning process, maybe something were off there.

As I don't have super admin privileges, I can test it in the staging site. Can you please do the following:
**IMPORTANT:** Please try this in a staging environment or at least with a backup of your site files and database before continuing.
Disable all plugins except WPM-related and Search Filter Pro and temporarily change the theme to a default WordPress such as Twenty Twenty-five.
Is the issue resolved with these settings? If so, please reactivate one by one to see which conflicts.

Also try this:
- Go to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting -> Clean up
- Select the post type and click "Synchronize post taxonomies"

Best Regards,
Otto

Hi Otto,

I've switched to the twenty-twenty five theme and deactivated all plugins, except for ACF, S&F, WPML and WCK.
I also "Synchronize post taxonomies" for all partners (thats the cpt that is filtered)
But I still get the same results. The EN Version still has no resulst when filtering by country.
I left the site a is right now. You can take a look yourself.

Hello,

It seems that the categories are loaded, maybe cached, when saving and then they are used for both languages.

For example:
Filtering by China in the English page returns no results:
hidden link

but if I use the German category:
hidden link (removing the -en)

it works.

Because all the unrelated plugins are deactivated, the auto-login link does no longer work. Can you please provide me with credentials to take another look?

Best Regards,
Otto
