This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
I need to hide the language switcher on desktop

Solution:
It's possible to hide it using CSS media queries. Please add the following code to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS:

@media (min-width: 780px)
{
#lang_sel_list {
    display: none !important;
}
}

Hello @arnolds-2, welcome to the WPML support Forum!

Sure, it's possible to hide it using CSS media queries. Please add the following code to Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS:

@media (min-width: 780px)
{
#lang_sel_list {
    display: none !important;
}
}

Please let me know if it worked for you.

All the best,
Diego
