We are going to copy your site to Cloudways. Your live site on hidden link will be untouched. The Cloudways site will be a staging site of your live site hidden link, where we can turn off indexing and make the tests. It'll be deleted afterward.

So, on the Cloudways site, we will check if your hosting doesn't create any issues, and do not be afraid to break anything.

Sorry, but this did not work.

We need to enter

Destination Site URL* > found in your instructions

SFTP HostServer Address > NOT In your instruction, is it the Server Public IP Address?

Database Name > found in your instructions

SFTP Username > found in your instructions

SFTP Password > found in your instructions - should it have the . in the end that you wrote?

We were never asked for the following:

Database Username
Database Password

Also, all 3 items on the bottom are set to NO, is this correct?

* Any root directories you want to migrate?
* Migrate additional database tables?
* Is this site password protected?

Yes, it should have . in the end.

Once it is finished, please perform the tests on copied staging site. Check if the page can be edited. If yes, make a small change to the original, save and complete its translation.

Where do you want us to go?

Please keep in mind that you're not speaking with professionals, but with people running their own company and using WP/WPML to build their website.

Trying to edit on WP still gives a scrambled page - see screenshot.
So, no, the page cannot be edited.

Trying to go to the --Destination Site URL results in the following error message:
Warning: Unknown: Failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0
Fatal error: Failed opening required '/mnt/BLOCKSTORAGE/home/214261.cloudwaysapps.com/bgkwhjeupj/public_html/malcare-waf.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php') in Unknown on line 0

Trying to go to the --Server Public IP Address results in:
Website Unavailable
The website you are trying to reach is unavailable due to security measures in place which restrict unauthorized access.

This whole process has been going on for over a week now, and it would be less cumbersome if we got clear instructions suitable for our level of competence (after all, we are paying a WPML subscription exactly because we're not programmers).

I appreciate your patience. I was able to narrow down the issue.

1) Regarding the broken page when editing it. I found out that deactivating the Page Optimize plugin fixes this.

2) Translation issue. The issue happens with the InfoBox widget. The content appears for translation but isn't displayed on the site. I was able to replicate it and further reported it to our team.

As a temporary solution, you can try to adjust/add translation directly in the WordPress editor for secondary languages. If you do this, do not save the translation for the page in the WPML Translation editor, as it may revert your changes in the WordPress editor.

If that makes sense, you can temporarily deactivate the WPML Translation editor for this page only (when editing the page in the original language).

Dear Andrej,

thank you for looking into this and for bearing with us.

1) We deactivated the PageOptimize plugin, and we are able to edit the page again 🙂 which is a BIG relief. Strange that Automattic issues a plugin that then scrambles the page, very bad!

2) InfoBox: Thanks for referring the issue to the team. Since we have the infobox as a feature on almost all of our pages, a manual solution is not feasible - please let us know once the team has a solution.
