[Resolved] Split: Critical error after updating WPML
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
Updating WPML caused a Critical error on the site
Solution:
The issue is caused by broken WPML update due to server restrictions so to remove broken WPML files and reinstall:
-Back up the site database and files to prevent any issues.
- Use FTP or check with your hosting provider and remove the folder sitepress-multilingual-cms from /wp-content/plugins/ on the site to remove WPML plugin.
- Download a fresh copy of the WPML plugin from https://wpml.org/account/downloads/ and upload/install it from Plugins -> Add New on the site.

I upgraded the wp into the last version and i upgraded all the plugins and all's work.
but when i tried to upgrade the wpml plugins into last version i got this criticial error
Do you get an email with the error details when the critical error occurs? If yes, please send me the error details here so that I can check it further.
Also, can you please try this and see how if it fixes the critical error:
- Back up the site database and files to prevent any issues.
- Delete WPML plugin from wp-admin if you are still able to access wp-admin or remove the "sitepress-multilingual-cms" folder from /wp-content/plugins/ folder in the site files.
Can you please let me know what exactly do you mean to say when you said "This is what i did " ?
Also, did you get a chance to check your email as asked for in my previous reply and see if more details on what code or file is causing the critical error is sent to your email?
if you don't have that info or if the email is not sent. For me to check the issue further, can you please back up the site completely and then share the site wp-admin and FTP/File access?

It looks like when you were trying to update WPML it failed due to restrictions on the server or site and thus WPML file is now broken causing the fatal error.
Can you please try this and see how it goes:
-Back up the site database and files to prevent any issues.
- Use FTP or check with your hosting provider and remove the folder sitepress-multilingual-cms from /wp-content/plugins/ on the site. This should then make your site accessible.
- Download a fresh copy of the WPML plugin from https://wpml.org/account/downloads/ and upload/install it from Plugins -> Add New on your site.

Regarding the issue of custom language not adding, I logged into your site but I still see you are using WPML 4.5.3 and a lot of other old plugins. Please update everything as explained in the other ticket for this issue linked next, then try adding the custom language and if you still get the issue, please follow up through the other ticket.
