This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was experiencing issues after translating taxonomies using WPML, including the creation of an unwanted directory in Italian.

Solution:
We explained that the 'General' type directory is a default feature from the Directorist plugin and cannot be deleted. This information is available in the Directorist documentation: Directorist documentation.

We also clarified that the Italian directory might have been created because WPML was initially set to Italian, but this should not cause issues if the directory type is not being used.

If you're experiencing similar issues, we recommend checking the documentation for the plugin you're using and ensuring that WPML was set up correctly. If you need to un-translate taxonomies to troubleshoot, you can do so by going to the WPML translation management and selecting the taxonomies you wish to revert.

Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. If the issue persists, we highly recommend checking related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket with us: WPML support forum.

Is it not a little strange that all was working well until the Taxonomies were translated?

And what about the generation of another directory in Italian...how do we remove this from the Taxonomy to be translated?

Also is it possible to un-translate the taxonomies so I could translated one taxonomy at a time to pin point which/what causes this issue?

Hello,

I checked and the General type is there by default from the plugin and can not be deleted:

You can still see it there:

On why is it Italian, probably WPML was first set to Italian when being set, but I do not see this causing an issue if you are not using this type at all.

Let me know if any other questions or doubts or need my help.

Regards,
Drazen
