Problem:
The client reported that featured blog post images are not attached to the posts after translation. The image title and alt text are translated correctly, but the image itself isn't displayed on the page.
Solution:
We advised the client to ensure that the 'Duplicate Featured Image' checkbox in the Languages box is checked when editing the original post. This action does not duplicate the actual file but creates an entry in the database for the secondary languages, allowing the image to appear in the translated posts. If the client prefers not to use the WPML duplicate functionality due to concerns about database size, they will need to seek a custom solution.

Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. bikbulatovaE	Another thing: featured blog post images aren't attached to the posts. Check out: hidden link Page "Post test". The image title and alt text are translated correcly, but the image isn't diplayed on the page. Is this maybe linked to wpml settings that do not copy the featured image or blog post design somehow? I need your support to fix this, because there is no doc about this. AI doesn't understand too. And I don't want to use the "duplicate media" stuff that will multiply by x number the database size (for media library).

Lauren	I have split this to a different ticket since it is not related to the original issue. You will need to duplicate the media to the secondary languages in order to use it for the translations. This does not copy an actual file to the other languages, just adds an entry in the database for the second languages. Please make sure when you edit the original post that the checkbox in the Languages box to "Duplicate Featured Image" is checked. If it is not, check the box and then save and it should copy to the translation. This is how WPML is intended to work, but if you do not want to use the WPML duplicate functionality to copy the image, then you will need to find a custom solution.

You can replace an image with a language-specific version (e.g., an English version of an infographic vs. a Spanish version). This is useful when media content needs to be localized for different audiences. Duplicate existing media for translated content: This creates copies of the media files from the original language and assigns them to the translated posts/pages. It ensures that the same images/videos appear in all language versions without manually re-uploading them. Duplicate the featured images for translated content: This specifically duplicates the featured image of a post or page across all language versions. It keeps the same featured image for consistency, so if a blog post in English has a featured image, the translated versions (e.g., Spanish, French) will also have the same image. bikbulatovaE	It worked! Thanks. I was afraid of duplicating media, the function may be badly named, because in fact it is about synchronizing the same media on the same content 🙂 Anyway, thanks!
