Problem: Does the Custom XML Configuration get lost during plugin or theme updates?

Solution: No, that data is stored in the database and not overwritten during updates to the theme or plugins.

Thank you for reaching out to WPML Support.

I created this ticket since the last one was already marked as resolved.

To clarify: Custom XML Configuration is not lost during plugin or theme updates.

You are also able to save the code in a XML file called wpml-config.xml which you can place in your child theme folder so that it is not lost when you update the main theme.
