Hallo,

EN:

I've placed my language switcher via widgets in a menu. I want it to work as a dropdown, but it's not shown like this - it's always shown as simple text without order. How can I solve this? I will share login data if it helps.

Btw: I already opened a ticket in the german section, but unfortunately it had no solution to this.

DE:

Anna

Hello

I can see that you have already had extensive support from my colleague. The only thing I can add to what she has already told you is the following:

1. If you have added the language-switcher widget to a theme "widget area", then it can be that the theme´s CSS for that widget area is overriding any styling that you have set for the WPML language switcher (e.g.there is a conflict).

You can approach your theme support to find out if this is the case and how to bypass any styling preventing dropdowns from appearing. You can also try using specific CSS "id" and "class" attributes to apply the styling you need.

2. If this is still not giving you the results that you need, you have two more strategies:
2.1 using Twig templates
For some, this is the preferred and simpler approach and does not include any PHP programming.
Tutorial here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/designing-custom-language-switchers-using-template-files/

2.2 or using PHP API.
The other way is to create custom language switchers using PHP API. This approach requires PHP knowledge.

3. WPML Contractors
Finally, with software anything is possible. But, it may require more time and expertise than what you have or what we can provide to you through our support forum.

In this case please contact a certified WPML Contractor here:
