Hi,

I have an issue on a clients live site (hidden link). On the top menu you see "Countries". When you click on it it opens a submenu with several countries (custom post type). For some countries (e.g. Romania, Malaysia) you get a WordPress message:

"The site is experiencing technical difficulties."

We assume it it something with WPML but we cannot figure out what the issue is.

Can you take a look and hopefully find a solution?

Login credentials can be provided if needed.

Thanks a lot
Michael

Hi,

Welcome to WPML Support forum.

To debug the issue further, please enable the WordPress debug log. This will allow us to see if any PHP errors are being produced.

More Info: https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress

Edit wp-config.php and insert the following lines:

/*enable debugging*/
define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);

- Add it above the line

 /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

-Try to reproduce the issue.
-Locate the debug log in: /wp-content/debug.log using FTP, then edit/view the content of the file.

Do you see any php errors related to WPML? Could you please share the debug.log content to us? You can use https://pastebin.com/ so you can just share the link to us.

Kind regards,
Dennis

Hi,

thanks. The debug log shows only entries related to another plugin. No WPML related entries. Does that for sure mean WPML is not the rot cause of the issue?

Any idea how tp specify this message: "The site is experiencing technical difficulties."?

Hi,

Thank you for your update.

The error usually appears when a PHP fatal error, database error and internal server errors occurs on your wordpress website. Since it's a wordpress general error, enabling wp debugging will help you log and fix those php errors.

Since, you haven't found any errors related to WPML, it more likely that the issue is not caused by WPML plugins.

Kind regards,
Dennis
