[Resolved] String translation function does not properly display the edit pencil icon.
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was unable to see the pencil icon for editing translations in the WPML string translation feature. This issue was suspected to be due to a conflict or a database collation issue. Solution: We initially attempted to log into the client's admin panel to investigate directly, but faced login issues. We then recommended that the client contact their hosting provider to change the database table collation for all

I regret any inconvenience caused, but to proceed with troubleshooting, I kindly ask for a snapshot of the site. Alternatively, with your permission, I can create one myself. For this purpose, I typically recommend using the free plugin "Duplicator." If you're already familiar with Duplicator (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/), please skip the following steps and simply send me the archive file you downloaded.
To guide you further, please adhere to these instructions:
1. View the Duplicator instructions video: hidden link
3. If the archive file exceeds 400MB, please use Duplicator's file filters to exclude cache, wp-uploads directory, media, and archive files.
Once you have the archive file ready, kindly share the link with us. You can utilize platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar for file sharing, as the snapshot file might be large.
Please note that your next reply will be private, visible only to you and me. You can paste the file link there. Rest assured that once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local site.
I apologize for the delay in seeing your message. It seems I did not receive the WPML email notification.
I have resent the password reset link to you.
Thanks for your patience. Our 2nd Tier Support checked and it looks like the WPML tables are using the wrong database collation. Please ask your hosting provider to change the database collation to utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci if the server supports it.
If they are not sure, please grant access to your server database (phpmyadmin) and I will make the changes for you.
Please remember to backup before performing any changes to the Website and Database.
As a side note, in WPML >> My Account >> Preferences, I have checked “Send me an email when I receive a reply to a support question,” but I still haven’t received any notification emails. Is there anywhere else I can configure this? I also apologize for replying four days late, as I did not receive the email notification. Thank you.
Hello, I have already sent an email inviting you to use that account as a wordpress.com account. After registering, you should be able to view the backend. If this method doesn’t work, I will ask the wordpress.com hosting provider to assist with the modifications. Thank you very much
