I want to translate the widget titles through String Translation and my native language is Dutch (NL). My secondary language, and the language I want translate to is English. Shouldn't the translate box, where I have to place my translation, be EN instead of NL? I have set Dutch as my primary language.

Also see the attached screenshot.

Best regards,

Joeri.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support,

The reason why It's not possible anymore to change the string language to English , is because it assumes that It is always in English at the moment, due to the fact that “Strings” should always be translated from English to other languages, even if English is not used at all in the site.

Therefore the correct way to do it up until now was to enter original strings in English and then translate to Dutch for example.

This is not necessary anymore with the realease of our CMS Beta Package.

Please read the following Documentation:
=>https://wpml.org/2015/10/wpml-makes-it-easy-to-run-sites-without-english/

You can go to https://wpml.org/account/downloads/ and download the CMS Beta Package

Kind Regards,
Bobby

Hello Bobby,

Thank you for your reply. It's clear to me. I would like to install the beta version, but do you think this is a good idea on a production website? I don't want to break up a live website.

Kind regards,

Joeri.

Hi Joeri,

Since the beta versions have not been fully tested for live sites i highly recommend for you to do a full BackUp before installing and activating it.

I have not had any recent tickets regarding this beta version causing any issues yet but doing the BackUp is extremely recommended.

I often use the Duplicator plugin for this purpose See: http://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

Kind Regards,
Bobby
