This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is unable to translate text formatted with ElementsKit's custom syntax using curly braces ({{ }}) in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE). The error message indicates that 'the original sentence includes formatting markers.' Previously, these could be translated without issues.
Solution:
We recommend avoiding the use of ElementsKit's curly-brace formatting for now. If you need to emphasize parts of a heading or text, consider using standard HTML tags like strong or span with a CSS class for bold styling. This method is more likely to be parsed correctly by ATE. We are currently monitoring the situation and will update you if any fixes become available.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems outdated, please check the related known issues, verify the version of the permanent fix, and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, we highly recommend opening a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
On the site hidden link, we have set that certain words between {} get another color. Previously, I could translate those values using the String translation. Now, I can't translate them. The value within the advanced Translation Editor is <wpml_curved>.

Symptoms:
When I try to edit the text on the page using the advanced Translation Editor, I get an error: 'the original sentence includes formatting markers.' Previously, everything was translated, and now they are back to the default language.

Questions:
Why can't I translate the values with formatting markers using the advanced Translation Editor?
How can I resolve the error 'the original sentence includes formatting markers'?

Hi,

hidden link

I've attached a screenshot of the URL. You see, " Klanten " was translated to "Customers," but I can't translate this now.

Hi Carlos,

Can you give me an update regarding this issue?
My website is having strange sentences because I can't translate them.

I noticed it's not mentioned in 4.7.5 or 4.7.6 as fix.

Hi,

At this time, we’re aware of two reports concerning this issue, but unfortunately, there’s no confirmed solution available yet.

For now, the safest approach is to avoid using ATE (Automatic Translation Editor) for content formatted with ElementsKit’s custom syntax — particularly where double curly braces ({{ }}) are used to apply styling such as bold within headings.

Instead, we recommend adjusting the content structure:

Avoid using ElementsKit’s curly-brace formatting.

If you need to emphasize part of a heading, consider using standard HTML tags like or wrapping the text in a <span> with a CSS class that applies bold styling. This approach is more likely to be parsed correctly by ATE.

We appreciate your understanding while we continue to monitor this situation. If any changes or fixes become available, we’ll keep you informed.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or need assistance restructuring the content.

Hi Carlos,

Can you tell me from which version this issue started, so I can revert to that version and wait until it's fixed?

Now my site isn't working, and I need to pay the designers to fix the WPML break.

Hi,

The handling of the content is in ATE, so there is no plugin version to return to.
