Yesterday, my German translator received an automated translation report, which states a specific page was translated last week. |

Hi, Welcome to WPML support. If you have an administrator role in WordPress, your username is already a translation manager, and you do not need to add the user as a translation manager. For the notifications, you can customize them for all users by going to WordPress Dashboard > WPML > Settings > Translation Notifications (tab). But you can also customize the notifications per user by going to Users > All users, selecting the user in question, and checking the notification settings. For more information: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/translation-notifications/ Thanks. |

Hi, I don't want to disable these notifications. Or maybe I just don't understand the point and timing of these reminders? |

Ah I see, Unfortunately, there is no such option to force translation complete notification stop, but the assignment will still be there. With the current options, you can enable or disable notifications per user for the email that the user has. Thanks. |

Hi, - You say I can customize the notifications from Settings > Translation notifications, where there is an option that says: "Notify the translation manager when jobs are completed". Which absolutely makes sense for a Translation Manager, to get a sum up of what's been translated over a specific period. But this is the email my translator received. - Now if any Administrator is a "de facto" Translation manager, is there a need, at all, to maintain a translation role, from the WPML > Translation Dashboard > Translators panel? Or can I remove it, and still be able to translate content to any language? - Finally, this documentation: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-admin-capabilities/ Thanks |

Hi, Ok, I am not sure what the details of that custom role that you created for the user are, so I do not have enough information to answer the first question. What I can say is that by Administrator, I mean the Administrator Role in WordPress. For the second question, the translation manager is a separate thing from the translator. A translation manager can be a translator if you add the proper language pair for the translation manager user. The Translation Manager is the person who can send and assign an item for translation to a user. For the last question, the documentation also means the Administrator Role in WordPress. Thanks. |

The custom translator's role I'm talking about has access to WP admin, plus the following capabilities: Otherwise, I'd rely on the native roles, which also have their flaws: >> If you have a better role setup to suggest for translated, I'm all yours. Now, regarding my second question, I totally understand that there are differences between the Administrators > Translation Managers > Translators roles. Still, if I remove my Admin user its Translator setup (which obviously automatically inherits all translations capabilities, in any direction... checkout the attached image), well this user can still translate all the content. >>Can you please confirm? |

Hi, For the translation notification, if you think there is a bug, I will be happy to report. I created a clean installation of WordPress and WPML here: hidden link I also installed a e-mail capture plugin. Whatever email that will be send will be logged here: hidden link So please add the user that you mentioned there and tell me which notification is the problem and I will follow up. Regarding the second question, I actually checked, created a new Admin user called Christopher. By adding that user with administrator role, the language pairs are not automatically assigned. That is why when I selected an item to send for translation and selected MYSELF the system gave an error that I can not do the translation myself as the language pairs are not set (please check the screenshot) You can also test by adding a new administrator user. Thanks. |

Hi Christopher, Thanks for this explanation. Please take a look at the attached screenshots. This is from a copy of our live db, with a standard StoreFront theme, and only the SitePress Multilingual CMS plugin activated (no add-ons, no... nothing). So very basic setup. As you can see, there is no translation manager declared. You see that it has a dedicated translator role setup, which has many translation pairs set, but not ALL of them. nb:On my previous screenshot, from another test environment, I had much more pairs set. Which I assume, is related to another issue we're currently exploring with your colleagues. So let's forget about that one. To that point, I can already translate to any language, even English to Mexico... Now I remove that translator, clear the cache, run troubleshooting, etc... Well , I can still translate content from US English to any language enable on the website. So to my understanding, it doesn't align with how it goes on the sandbox. Finally, regarding the email, once again, I'm just saying it doesn't make sense notifying a translator of the completion of the translation she/he just completed. The email template is the one attached earlier in this topic. I just suggest it's the one triggered by the "Notify the translation manager when jobs are completed []" setting, that's actually sent to my translator, who's not an Administrator, but owns the custom permissions I detailled earlier. Which are required to translated the content. I won't take too much time to confirm what you oberve on your sandbox. I believe you, no problem! My plugins are up to date, we've been using your plugin for years, and never tweaked anything around that topic. Still, the behavior is not what it's meant to be, even If I disable everything around WPML. I can't explain what's going on here. But you guys should... Otherwise, that's concerning :/ |

Hello, Christopher is currently on vacation, so I’ll be taking care of this ticket in the meantime. I hope that’s okay. I would like to focus on the main issue here, as I’m a little confused about the following statement: Finally, regarding the email, once again, I'm just saying it doesn't make sense notifying a translator of the completion of the translation she/he just completed. If I understand correctly, the translator received an email notification for a page translation that they had already completed on the 15th. Is that correct? do you recall setting any deadlines for these translation jobs? Regarding the translators, you mentioned Now I remove that translator, clear the cache, run troubleshooting, etc... Well , I can still translate content from US English to any language enable on the website. Is the user that you removed from translator has custom privileges or this is a normal WordPress user? Looking forward to your reply. Thanks |

Hi, If I understand correctly, the translator received an email notification for a page translation that they had already completed on the 15th. Is that correct? do you recall setting any deadlines for these translation jobs? Is the user that you removed from translator has custom privileges or this is a normal WordPress user? Still, as already explained, beside Administrator (which is way too permissive for a translator), none of those native roles offer enough permissions to translate all the content I have to submit (WooCommerce and Pages are not included). So I had no other choices that create a custom role. |

Hello there, Thank you for the details. Regarding the emails, I have created a test site here: hidden link I sent a page for translation with today’s deadline and am currently monitoring the emails using the Email Log plugin. This will help us determine whether the issue is related to WPML functionality or caused by a third-party conflict. I would also recommend that you perform the same test from your end on the test site so we can identify the root cause more quickly. Regarding the translations, WPML’s standard workflow for allowing users to translate content works as follows: - The administrator sets up translators and assigns language pairs. - The administrator goes to WPML → Translation Dashboard, selects the content for translation, and sends it to the translators. - Translators then go to WPML → Translation Queue to complete the translations. From my understanding, you would like users to log in to the site and translate content directly. In that case, your current approach is correct. Thanks |
