Dear Support,

We're using a translation service provider: hidden link to translate our website to multiple languages.

When we started testing the results, we ran into a few problems (missing images and some styles that have a 'Copy' translation status).

What's more, when we check such an apparently incorrectly translated page in the admin using the pencil icon, some translations are clearly missing.

The provider sent the contents of the xliff files in which they were actually translated, so we suspect that there may be an inconsistency in the WPML system.

Hello there,

Thank you for contacting WPML support. I’d be happy to assist you with this issue.

Translations received from translation services are not displayed in the Advanced Translation Editor, as it is a different editor and does not support imported XLIFF content.

Could you please go to WPML → Settings and change the translation editor to Classic Translation Editor to see if that helps?

I look forward to your reply.

Thanks

Hello Shekhar Bhandari,

Thank you for your reply.

Following your instructions, I was able to view the contents of the XLIFF file using the Classic Translation Editor.

The main problem still remains.

Some images and styles are still missing, I tried making some changes to the original English version and using the Save and Exit button on the Chinese version, but the problem persists.

I use the 'Same fields across languages' rule on this ACF block so it should copy the related images.

Hello there,

To debug this issue further, I would need to check your site settings once, for this I would need temporary access (wp-admin and ftp) to your site.

So could you please provide me with those details, you will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply.

Hello 🙂

It looks like the issue was caused by translating the wrong fields.

I edited the Chinese translations and set the following two fields exactly the same as in the original language, and that fixed the issue for me:

* Acf/Content Media/Media Group Media Type
* Acf/Content Media/Media Group Media Height

Could you please do the same on your side for other languages and check if it helps? Most likely these fields were translated before the translation preferences were updated.

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks

Hello Shekhar,

Nice catch. It works.

I see that the translate contains field which should be copied and it has been translated into the targeted language.

How could I prevent this situation in this case?

These blocks are using the 'Same fields across languages' rule, but it seems the WPML configuration doesn't respect that.

https://wpml.org/forums/topic/transation-issues-inconsistency/

It's a button group field and should be copied instead of translatable status.

Hello there,

It should work automatically for new items without needing to configure anything.

For content that has already been translated, could you please try making a small change to the image itself or upload a new image and check if that helps?

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks

Dear Sheckhar,

I feel like this is not an answer to my question about how to prevent this situation.

I tired to change an image, but that doesn't help and these fields are not related to the image.
These are the block settings.

These fields should not appear as translatable fields with the "Copy" rule, but they still exist after I made changes to the original page.

Could you provide a solution to completely remove these from translations without having to do this manually on every page?

Hello there,

Thank you for the feedback.

To get a better understanding, I suggest sharing a backup of your wp-content folder and your database. You can zip the files and send them to me via Google Drive. With these, I can set up a local copy of your site and take a closer look at the issue.

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks

Hello there,

I received feedback from the compatibility team, and they confirmed that this issue has already been escalated to our developers.

You can find more details in the following errata page: https://wpml.org/errata/acf-field-translation-preferences-may-be-ignored-when-fields-used-in-custom-blocks/

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks

Hello Shekbar,

Thank you for confirming this is a bug on WPML side.

Is there any progress on fixing the bug?
When is it expected to be fixed?

The given workaround is not a viable option (for Group fields).

Thanks in advance!

Hi there!

this is Paola and I will continue with the ticket.

I checked the latest feedback from our developers. At the moment, the issue is still under investigation and I’m afraid I do not yet have an ETA for a fix.

I will let you know as soon as there are news.
