Hi,

I have updated the English version of this page on my site: hidden link

When I try to use the Advanced Translation Editor to update the French version, it is missing some content that has already been translated.

First screenshot attached shows the untranslated content in the Advanced Translation Editor.

Second screenshot attached shows the front end of the French translation with the content translated.

Do you know why the translated content on the front end is not showing in the Advanced Translation Editor?

Thanks

Hi Sean,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I'd be happy to help you with this issue.

Checking on our server, I see the accordion content has been not translated in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) before so the translation memory does not recognize the translation content.
I also check the translation memory of other instances but do not see that, for example: your staging site hidden link

The same issue is on this page hidden link

Did you translate that content on your site instead of ATE? Please try to translate the content in ATE and recheck this issue.

Refer to this documentation https://wpml.org/faq/why-arent-my-translations-showing/

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Thanks Long,
I spoke to my team and you are right, the content for that accordion was not originally translated in the ATE.
I want to keep the translated content in the accordion as it is, but I have changed the page layout for the English version and need these changes to show on the other languages.
How do I update the page layout on the translated pages without overwriting the content in the ATE?
Thanks

Hi,

If the translation was made on your site and you want to update the layout, please keep using the same translation editor to update the translation page (WPML Classic Translation Editor or WordPress editor).

If you want to use the ATE to translate the page and update the layout, you need to translate the accordion content (untranslated content) there. Then the translation segments are saved to the memory and you won't need to translate the same segments next time.

Refer documentation
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/how-wpml-keeps-track-of-your-translations/
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-the-translation-editor/

I hope I was helpful. Don't hesitate to ask if you find any problem along the way, I'll gladly help you.
