Hi,

It very often happens that when we make changes on a page in the English language (main language) that translations that were already there before vanish in WPML. They get replaced by the English content and we need to translate the missing parts again. The result is that we have mixed languages on pages that were being displayed correctly before. Since we have a lot of languages and this happens regularly, it is quite a big issue for us. We already talked with Ahmed from the Translation Proxy team and he asked us to open a ticket here.

Thanks for your help.

Hi and thank you for contacting WPML Support!

I will be happy to help you with this.

Can you please take a look at the recommendation that I gave to the client in the ticket link below (just point 1) and see if that solved your issue:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/can-not-find-the-way-to-auto-translate-some-point/#post-4283905

I think that might be the cause.

Please let me know.

I will be waiting for your response.

Just a note that I won't be working on the weekend so I will be able to get back to you at the beginning of next week.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

Hi Mihai,

Unfortunately, this is not the issue we are dealing with. We do not duplicate pages but translate them directly via WPML. So ideally, if we make changes to the English (original) page, the translated page should show that the translation needs to be updated, but the already translated content should still be there. Sometimes, it is working like this, but in most of the cases, the translations are replaced by the English content. It even happens that content is replaced even if the changes were made in a completely different block on the page.

It would be really great if you could take a deeper look into this.

Thanks
Kathrin

Hi and thank you for the explanation.

Can you please let me know of an example page/post where you have experienced that?

Also, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of the site files and database before providing us access.

- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box.

The private box looks like this: hidden link

I will be waiting for your response.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei
