Background of the issue:
I am working on a 5 language website using WPML. Three languages have just one product, while the other two languages have more products, organized into four groups. The home page and shop page differ for each language. The normal pages and special menus for each language work perfectly. I created staging.coneccare.com/nl/winkel/inogen-winkel/ and translated it into staging.coneccare.com/shop/inogen-shop/. The main language is English, but I created the Dutch page first.

Same is for staging.coneccare.com/shop/atto-shop as English translation of staging.coneccare.com/nl/winkel/atto-winkel

Symptoms:
The English page for the product groups in Dutch and English results in a 404 error when accessed directly from the dashboard, as a translation, or through the menu.

Questions:
Why does the English page end up in a 404 error?
Is creating the Dutch page first causing the problem?
What can I do to resolve this issue?

The cause of this was not the order in which I translated the page. After doing it from English as first language I had the same problem. The problem was solved after putting the page as a main page, not under a parent. Apparently that was a problem, because now it all works.
