I exported the strings of a plugin (Ultimate GDPR) with Estonian translations, so it's a .po file. Now when I go to another site to import the translations for this plugin, I only get the English strings without the Estonian translations. I did everything according to WPML instructions, but it does not work as showed.

The WordPress theme and Debug info I will provide for the site to which I'm trying to import the strings.

Thank you for contacting WPML support. I'll be happy to help you with this.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.

You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT

Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.

If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Thanks,
Ricardo

I can not provide a testing site myself, but I will allow you to replicate and install/use the Duplicator. Unfortunately I do not see the fields to provide you access.

Sorry about that. I've enabled them again below.

Thanks, you can upload the .po file to your root or wp-content directory. I'll grab it from there.

The WP login is not working, can you double check?

Could you try again now? 🙂

Thanks, I was able to log in now. I checked the .po file and only 20 of the 187 strings are translated. I was able to import it into your site without any problems. You can check the translations in WPML -> String Translations under the "cf-ultimate-gdpr" domain.

Were all the strings translated in the site where you exported the .po file from?

Now I see that the 20 strings that were translated are also shown translated in the site, before it just imported the English strings without the Estonian translations. What was I doing wrong?
And yes not all of the strings were translated, just the ones for the front-end. 🙂

I don't know what you did wrong. I just imported the .po file following the procedure shown in the screenshot below.

Thank you for the screenshot. I figured out that for some reason the plugin has more than 1 domain with strings and in order for everything to display properly, the .po file should be imported into all of them (the 2 domains for this matter). Thank you very much for your kind and professional help.
All the best!
