Tell us what you are trying to do?

I need a heads up in terms of things that WPML doesn't translate with two pages. For example under WooCommerce > Settings > Taxes you can see the following field: hidden link If I try to change it in the german section, it changes it for the english one as well. As for now, I am clueless as to how to fix this problem and would appreciate some explanation on how to do that for other, similar problems, too.

Thank you!

What is the link to your site?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

Generally, yes, this helped. Practically, it didn't help me. I don't know how to find the name of this string.. I tried looking for stuff like "Price suffix" or "excl. VAT", but without success.

Thanks for further guidance - I'd say the whole topic "strings" is not yet clear enough to me to work with it efficiently.

Hi.

You can search by exkl or MWST.

Please let me know if that helped.

Kind regards,
Mihai

It did, thank you!

I do have one question though. Once I make these strings for let's say woocommerce, doesn't this heavily affect website speed because of the huge amount of data? Is there some guideline or best practices how to improve website speed even though there is this huge amount of data generated by WPML? Thank you.

Hi.

I am very happy to hear that the recommended steps helped you solve the issue!

All the strings are saved into the database and this should not affect site performance.

However, sometimes, depending on the hosting settings or the plugins that are used on the site together with WPML can cause different performance issues due to different incompatibility issues.

Here are some links with some very helpful documentation regarding this topic:

- https://wpml.org/faq/why-string-translation-appears-to-slow-down-sites/
- https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-debug-performance-problems/
- the recommendation on this ticket: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/how-to-optimize-wpml-performance/

If you ever encounter performance issues with your site due to WPML, please do not hesitate to open a new ticket and write to us.

We will be more than happy to take a look! 🙂

I hope that answers your question.

Also, can you please mark this ticket as resolved if the issue is resolved now?

Have a great weekend!

Kind regards,
Mihai
