This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:How to remove language switcher link background color and border.

Solution: You can get rid of the background and border with this CSS code:

.wpml-ls-legacy-dropdown a {
    background: transparent;
    border: none;
}

You can paste that in WPML -> Languages -> Language switcher options -> Additional CSS.

I am trying to:
Have a transparent color on my language switcher and no borders

Link to a page where the issue can be seen:
hidden link

I expected to see:
transparent color on my menu

Instead, I got:
white background and border

Thank you for contacting WPML support.
You can get rid of the background and border with this CSS code:
