I have followed the steps outlined by the second tier support people. I deleted the existing strings, modified the UMP php file as instructed. The strings appeared in the string translation listing under the domain lhc and I translated them. However of the french strings, only one, 'Facilitation' appears on the french site. See screen caps.
Thanks for your reply. Could you perform a full backup and share access to your production site so that I can check if you've implemented the workaround correctly?
I am trying to track down the source of the error message on the login page. I turn debugging on in wp-config.php and the only thing that comes up is this.
Notice: Function _load_textdomain_just_in_time was called incorrectly. Translation loading for the ihc domain was triggered too early. This is usually an indicator for some code in the plugin or theme running too early. Translations should be loaded at the init action or later. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. Thanks for your reply. That error log has nothing to do with this login issue. If you're getting the same error trying to login, please access the server via FTP and rename the 2 Factor Authentication plugin to disable it. I hope it helps.
Thanks for your reply. I've checked and it works for me. Please refer to this screen recording that I've recorded while testing the fix from our 2nd Tier Support hidden link . Could you retry?
I am able to get it working with all the form elements except for 'Province'. I have deleted all the strings from the admin_ihc_user_fields domain (the province names, the form element label etc.
But no equivalent string appears for translation in the ihc domain and visitors are unable to filter by province on the french directory page because the form element does not appear.
Most if not all of them have a 'Province' assigned in their profile. Member profile records aren't translated, I don' t think. They just show up in whatever language they were posted in.
Thanks for your reply. I’ve selected a few provinces in English and compared them with the French version, but I couldn’t find any French profiles appearing in the search results when filtering by English-language province names. Could you please check?
Thank you for your reply. I’m unable to find André Courchesne, Jane Needles, and Cate Proctor listed on the French main directory page here: hidden link, even after selecting the “Show All” option, as shown in the attached screenshot. Could you please look into this?
Also, could you check the profile at hidden link to confirm if it’s configured the same way as the other profiles that appear in the French directory?
It is. But I don't see any rhyme or reason as to why Martin Theberge shows up on the french directory page and André Courchesne does not.
I think we have encountered another significant compatibility problem between WPML and UMP. It should be dealt with, but it's not the one we started off trying to fix.
We went down this rabbit hole because we were trying to figure out why WPML's fix for the missing filter choice on the french directory page wasn't working for the 'By Province' filter.
I think you thought it might be because there were no member profiles translated to french that were assigned provinces.
And I think we have discovered that's not the case, if for no other reason, because profiles themselves are not translated. And indeed we don't know how some come to be visible on the french directory and some do not.
This will be much more worrisome for the client than missing the 'filter by province' function in french.
Thanks for your reply. Could you replicate the issue here hidden link so that I can open another report for this? You can display the dropdown province selection on desktop.
