I'm trying to incrase the memory limit. I did as instructed by you guys in a chat:

/** Memory Limit */
define(\'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT\', \'256M\');
define( \'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT\', \'256M\' );

Add it above the line /* That\'s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

After modifying the config.php file, my website gave the following erorr:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ''WP_MEMORY_LIMIT\', \'256M\');' (T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING), expecting identifier (T_STRING) in /home/platne/serwer44531/public_html/wordpress/wp-config.php on line 84

Line 84 corresponds to the following:
/* That's all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */

I don't know if it's relevant, but the text "/* That' " appears in grey and "s all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */" appears in black.

I have noticed that in your instruction's there's a back slash: /* That\'s
I have introduced it and the error is still there. Moreover, now the text appearing after this line is grey. See the image attached.

I am also attaching how the original php looked like so that you can compare it.

I have edited the file in Notepad++.

Can you please confim what I should do to make it work?
Thanks.

I have played with the php file a bit and is it possible that THIS is the correct command to paste?

/** Memory Limit */
define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

I have updated the PHP file and the website works correctly. The Memory limit is also reflected correctly and shows 256 MB.

However, I would like to know why I was provided with an incorrect code to paste.
Thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

Yes, the correct code is

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

I am not sure where there were some syntax error in the provided code in chat.
To whom did you chat?
Could you please give me the chat link so I can check with the supporter if you want?

Anyhow, he is the correct details: https://wordpress.org/support/article/editing-wp-config-php/#increasing-memory-allocated-to-php

Thanks, Riffaz! I really appreciate a quick answer.

I spoke with Lauren. Here's the link to the chat, but it has been marked as resolved, so I don't know if you can see it.

Hi,

I checked with Lauren.
Normally, what we do is just copy and paste the usual code snippets but sometimes the format is changed in chat. very rare bug.
Apologies for this.

You are using correct code and it's fixed now.

We will double check this in future chats.
And, we will fix if there is any bug.

Thank you for letting us know.
