When I check GTMetrix, the last thing to load, that takes approximately a full second, is /?wc-ajax=get_refreshed_fragments. I have found around the web that this seems to have been a problem previously:

https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wc-ajaxget_refreshed_fragments/

But that thread says that it was solved in Woocommerce Multilingual 3.7.7. My site is completely up-to-date, so that is not the problem.

I have also tried the steps suggested here:

https://wpml.org/forums/topic/website-slow-after-update-wpml/

But to no avail. No matter what I do, WooCommerce Mutilingual is slowing my site down by a full second. Could you please look into this for me. Access is available privately upon request, and you should have the URL from the debug info I sent.

Thank you,

Hello,

Thank you for contacting the WPML support!

The WP memory limit needs to be increased. PHP memory is fine but WordPress uses 40Mb as default. Minimum requirements for WPML are 128Mb: https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/

Can you please increase the memory limit to 256MB:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

Add this code to your wp-config.php to increase WP memory:

/** Memory Limit */
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

Paste it just before:

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

Can you please check if the issue persists in this scenario?
-Back up your site first
-Deactivate all the plugins that are not related to WPML, keep also WooCommerce and WooCommerce Multilingual
-Switch for a moment to a WordPress default theme like Twenty Fourteen.

Also, I noted that GTMetrix shows a page load average of 6.5s.

I tested here, from different locations hidden link and there is a big variance in results depending on the location.

From NY it takes 2s approx (which is acceptable), and from Sweeden 4.5s.

Let me know your results, please.

Kind Regards,

Otto
