We just tried to activate WPML on one of our sites running Avada.

We believe there might be a conflict with the Fusion Builder of Avada.

We get the following error message:

Fatal error: Uncaught InvalidArgumentException: Argument $language_code must be a non empty string. in /var/www/vhosts/ Stack trace: #0 /var/www/vhosts/ WPML_Translation_Element->get_translation(false) #1 [internal function]: WPML_Compatibility_Plugin_Fusion_Global_Element_Hooks->replace_global_id(Array) #2 /var/www/vhosts/ preg_replace_callback('/\\[fusion_globa...', Array, '[fusion_builder...') #3 /var/www/vhosts/ WPML_Compatibility_Plugin_Fusion_Global_Element_Hooks->translate_global_element_ in /var/www/vhosts/ on line 76
The site is experiencing technical difficulties.

What can we do?

Kind regards,

1. FTP access
I´m not able to open FTP access for some reason, so I am hesitate to try to activate the WPML plugins to see the error first-hand since I won´t have a way to deactivate it easily.

2. Fusion Builder v. WPML
We don´t have any current reports of problems with Avada Fusion Builder and WPML.

As a diagnostic, please temporarily change you active theme to Twenty Nineteen and deactivate your non-WPML plugins.
- In this state, can you activate WPML?
- If you start activating the non-wpml plugins one-by-one, are you still able to reach your dashboard?

3. Error message
The message indicates the problem is with the global elements in your library. So, I don´t think it is with the Fusion Builder in general. It may be that you need to duplicate your global elements to all languages and therefore, have these elements as "translatable" in
WPML > Settings > Custom Post Type Translation

1. try host hidden link. But dont worry. You can access wp-admin to deactivate the plugins.

2. I have made the tests you requested. Problem occurs only with Avada theme (both child and default theme) But only when Fusion Builder is active. No problems running ninteen theme.

3. I doubt it because I have not even made the basic setup for wpml, so I don't even have a tanslation language set. Maybe I am missing something.

Please have a look!

I temporarily deactivated the Fusion Builder plugin to then complete the WPML setup.

After doing this, I reactivated the Fusion Builder plugin and I did not receive any error messages in the dashboard. What action was done in the past to receive the error that you described?

Note: in the setup process I selected Spanish as the 2nd language (you can change this) and you should now register the site with your acct if you have not already done this.
