Tell us what you are trying to do? Make the site run fast with wpml

Is there any documentation that you are following? I followed suggestions already posted on forums and cache plugins but nothing works

Is there a similar example that we can see? Many people already reported the same issue.

What is the link to your site? loja.amazing-collectibles.pt

Hello,

Thank you for contacting the WPML Support Forum.

First, please increase your Memory Limit and WP Memory limit to 256M? 128M is the minimum required by WPML.
Your current values are:

PHP MemoryLimit -1M
WP Memory Limit 40M
Add this code to your wp-config.php to increase WP memory:

/* Memory Limit /
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

Paste it just before:

/ That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. /

These settings can be limited directly by your hosting provider, so I recommend you to contact and ask them to modify them directly.
If you can get even higher values It would be great.

https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/
Note: WPML needs a minimum WP Memory limit of 128M to work only under a minimal environment, it means,
with a default theme and not other plugins installed.

Do I understand right, that the page generation time is as expected if WPML and its add-ons are deactivated?

How high is the page generation time with and without WPML? I would advise you to use Google Chrome together with the add-on Page Load Time for measuring.

Further, the delay could be related to a bug or compatibility issue. Enable the wp-debug feature to see if there are any current PHP errors given.

Add the following to your wp-config.php file:

define('WP_DEBUG', true);
define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );

The wp-config.php is located in your WordPress root directory. It’s the same file where the database configuration settings are. You will have to access it by FTP or SFTP in order to edit it.

If you open wp-config.php and that define statement is not there, you can add it right before this line:

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

You will be able to find a complete report inside of your wp-content folder. Look for a debug.log file and provide me the results.

More information about how to activate this feature you can find here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/debugging-wpml/

Let me know about the results. In case the debug-log is very long please add it to a web tool like pastebin.com and send me the link.

Kind regards,
Andreas

Hello,

On the debug.log I can see various issues related to the theme and WPBakery. Did you already run the site in the minimal setup?

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to a testing site where the issue is replicated.

You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT

Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Hello,

In order to debug for performance issues, I will need admin access to the website, including access for installing plugins, as I would like to use Duplicator or Duplicator PRO if necessary.

Alternatively, you could provide a download link for a Duplicator package of the website.

Kind regards
Andreas

Hello,

It seems I did not explain myself well enough.

The access to the backend is working but I need admin capacities in order to have access to plugins, themes and all other aspects of the backend.

If you are not able to grant admin capacities please provide a download link for a Duplicator package of the website.

Kind regards
Andreas

Hello,

I was trying to create a copy of your site for debugging but creating the package failed, which might be related to its size of more than 18 GB.

I then enabled the wp-debug feature and would like to encourage you to have a look at the file debug.log which can be found in the folder /wp-content/. Here you can see errors and notifications regarding issues with PHP code on your site. Those errors occurred while WPML was disabled.

I then measured the page load time of your website with and without WPML and in fact, the performance issues are not related to WPML. The page load time even without our plugin was pretty high and enabling our plugins again enhanced the page load a little.

I further optimized WPML by deleting the cache DB tables and updating the .mo-files.

I would suggest you test the site in minimal setups and review the debug.log in order to determine which plugin is causing the issue.

Kind regards
Andreas
