If you have just updated to WPML and your site has fallen apart then you need to do the following:

step 1. go to the wp-content/plugins folder via FTP or cPanel's File Manager
step 2. find the main WPML plugin; most likely you will see the version number: sitepress-multilingual-cms-
step 3. delete the dash and the version number, so the plugin folder looks like sitepress-multilingual-cms

Problem Solved!
