This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needed assistance with translating the category description text that appears at the top of a category page.
Solution:
We provided two methods to translate the category description:
1. To use the WPML Translation Editor:
- Navigate to WPML > Settings > Translation Editor and enable the option "Only show taxonomy terms that haven't been translated yet".
2. To translate the category info manually:
- Go to WPML > Taxonomy Translation, select Categories, and translate the term.
- Alternatively, go to Posts > Categories, edit the term in the English language, and then edit the translation term manually.
We also referred to the documentation on translating post categories and custom taxonomies: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-post-categories-and-custom-taxonomies/#other-taxonomy-translation-methods

I tried this support article:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-post-categories-and-custom-taxonomies/

But I still don't see where I would translate that particular text.

Thank you

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to WPML support. While you're waiting for one of my colleagues to handle this ticket, let me offer you some initial debugging steps to assist with the issue promptly.

If you want to translate the category info along with the post in the WPML Translation Editor, you can go to WPML > Settings > Translation Editor > Enable option "Only show taxonomy terms that haven't been translated yet".

If you want to translate the category info manually, you can
1. Go to WPML > Taxonomy Translation > Select Categories and translate the term.

2. Or go to Posts > Categories > Edit the term in English language > Edit the translation term manually.

There are 3 options noted in the documentation https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-post-categories-and-custom-taxonomies/#other-taxonomy-translation-methods

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hello

I have tried all of the above options plus I tried the automatic translation with the creation of a temporary post, but I still can not get the category description to translate automatically.
Everything else is translated well, but I added category descriptions and it seems the only way to translate them is manually, do you know a workaround maybe, I have a lot of languages in the blog, would like to be able to translate description texts automatically.

Thank you

Please translate those fields at WPML > Taxonomy Translation by selecting the desired taxonomy and creating the translation manually.

Hi there,

Thank you for the login information. I followed the steps mentioned by my colleague and could translate the description.

Please consider that you do not have access to automatic translation for the category description and you need to do it manually by following the steps below:

- Go to WordPress Dashboard > WPML > taxonomy Translation.
- Select Categories as the taxonomy and wait for the categories to show.
- Click the pencil icon next to a category for the language in question.
- As an example I clicked the pencil icon for the French language next to the NEWS category.
- In the pop up you will see that the category description is there and you can translate it there manually.
- I did that and clicked save and here is the result:

Thanks.
